What to do online?

Activities

Zoom, Whatsapp, Viber, Skype and so many more options. Video calls are a great way to get everyone together for your baby shower without travelling or losing your Social Distancing. So you set your date and time, pick your Video calling app and test out your equipment and connection, your all set! Once we are on the call what can we do to make this memorable event? Below is a list of activities that are either free or very inexpensive that you can do during your video call, enjoy!

The Jelly Beans Game:

What you’ll need:

  • Clear Container
  • Jelly Beans (or your favourite candy)

Fill your clear container with Jelly Beans or your favourite candy. Make sure you have counted them while filling it. Let guests view the container on your video call and guess how much is in it. Whoever gets closest wins!

*Tip: typically the guest wins the container filled with candy, but with Covid-19 going on we suggest buying a fresh pack to give away as a more sanitary prize

Open Gifts:

For this you just need to let your guests know ahead of time that you will be opening your shower gifts during the call (traditionally at the end). This let’s your guests see your reactions and share a story behind the gifts if there are any. Brings a very classic feel to your Virtual Baby Shower.

Dessert:

What you’ll need:

  • Some sort of dessert (we recommend cupcakes)

Order your deserts ahead of time, either from the same place or a couple of different ones depending on where your guests are located. Alternatively if everyone is local you could bake them at home and drop off the deserts ahead of time. When everyone is ready for dessert you can all share the course over video chat.

Guess the item:

What you’ll need:

  • Pictures of baby items

For the purpose of this game you can grab pictures of baby items (eg, Strollers, Pacifiers, Bottles) off the internet. Print the pictures, when playing you hold part of the picture up to the camera and have guests guess what the item is before revealing the whole picture.

The Creative Diaper:

 What you’ll need:

  • A stuffed animal, doll or in a pinch pillow

Arrange with your guests ahead of time to have the item within reach. A stuffed animal is preferred. Tell guests they have 2 minutes to grab some sort of household materials to make a diaper and have it stay on their stuffed animal. (No real diapers and no safety pins aloud) Have guests put their homemade diaper on the stuffed animals on camera. Give points for Speed and creativity of the diapers.

Baby Bump V.1:

See who can create the most realistic baby bump using household items, have them stand in front of their camera, the person with the most realistic bump wins.

Baby Bump V.2:

Have your guests make a baby bump, just like version 1. In this version ou have the other guests try to figure out what was used to make the bump. You can do this over your video call or have guests take a picture with their bump and send it in ahead of time, this way you could do it in a social media groups chat, over a group on Facebook or on your Virtual Baby Shower site!

Two Truths and a baby lie:

Every player needs to come up with two truths and one lie about themselves as a baby. Each player must guess which is the lie. If you guess right you get a point. If the player stumps everyone they get a point. Player with the most points at the end wins.

Name the Nursery Rhyme:

What you’ll need:

  • Instrumental versions of nursery rhymes or lullabies
  • Guests have paper and pencils(Second score system)

Play 15 to 30 seconds of the song and your guests will have to guess what the nursery rhyme or lullaby is based on the short clip. We recommend one of two ways, first is have guests type their answers into a chat, then fastest one gets the point, the person with the most points wins. Second way, have guests write the answers down and reveal when the host says so on the video, everyone who gets it right gets a point. Second version can also be done as elimination

What’s in the baby bottle:

What you’ll need:

  • Baby Bottles(3 to 10)
  • Various liquids
  • Paper and pencils with guests

Line up 3-10 baby bottles with different liquids in it . Number each bottle and have the players write down what they think is in the bottle. At the end whoever gets the most right answers wins.

*If you use cleaning liquids or anything that should not be ingested by humans please dispose of the bottles and do not reuse them!

Baby shower word bingo:

What you’ll need:

  • Paper and Pencils for Guests or send out Bingo cards

Each player makes their own 5 by 5 grid bingo board. In each box the player should write a word they think will be said during the baby shower. When you hear the word check off that box. The first player to get a row and call out “Bingo” wins. The cards should be filled out with a pen or marker at the beginning of the shower and words shouldn’t be revealed until they are said, then call it out and get your box.

Baby shower memory game:

At the beginning of the shower share the baby’s due date, possible names and any other information you would like people to know. At the end of the shower have the guests write as many facts as they remember. Whoever has the most wins.

The Price is Right:

What you’ll need:

  • Assortment of baby products (and exact prices)
  • Paper and pencils for guests

Pick an order, showcase your item (e.g. Baby Formula) and have each guest guess the price, writing it down helps prevent accusations of cheating. The person who guesses closest to the actual price without going over gets a point.
